Shillong, Jan 16: Over the past ten years, Startup India has catalysed innovation, enabled job creation, and positioned India as a global hub for startups building solutions for the world. The vision behind this initiative has been truly transformative, and the dividends are evident across India’s entrepreneurial landscape.
Over the past decade, Startup India has transformed the entrepreneurial landscape of our nation. Startups have emerged as key drivers of innovation, job creation, and economic growth, addressing critical challenges across sectors from healthcare to agriculture, from education to sustainability.
On January 16, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) celebrated 10 years of the Startup India Initiative on the occasion of National Startup Day at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The event was held in the esteemed presence of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as the Chief Guest.
The programme was further graced by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Government of India; and Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Government of India.
Prominent entrepreneurs and Shark Tank India investors, including Aman Gupta (Co-founder, boAt), Ritesh Agarwal (Co-founder, OYO), and Mohit Yadav (Founder, Minimalist), were also present at the event.
Marking a proud moment for the state of Meghalaya, a Certificate of Appreciation was conferred under the States’ Startup Ecosystem Ranking (5th Edition), recognizing Meghalaya as a Leader for its outstanding efforts in building a strong and vibrant startup ecosystem.

This recognition reflects the state’s continued commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup-led growth.
